I had absolutely no idea where I was going when I started these nails….I just fished out a tonne of polishes I wanted to use, a make up sponge and got to work.  I quite like the finished result, they kind of remind me of nebula with all the purples and shimmery gold colours!

Zebra or Tiger?

13 Aug

So when I’d finish these nails I couldn’t figure out whether they were zebra print or tiger print, I mean aren’t they just the same!? Don’t the stripes on a zebra kinda look the same as those on a tiger? Zebra….tiger….who knows! Yeah, my brain is having a “weird place” day!

Anyway…..I don’t use this base coat anywhere near often enough! I love the Nails Inc Sprinkles polishes and this one is definitely my favourite with the bright blue and purple/pink/gold glitters. I was tempted just to leave my nails plain, but the blog…y’know! Something about them just screamed for gold stamps over the top, so there you go!

OMD2 – Coral Nails

2 Jul

Day 2 of OMD2 is Coral. For some reason whenever I do coral nails my brain always goes tribal or geometric….geometric won out this time and I’ve done a tape mani randomly placing different coloured triangles on my nails!

I really like the colour combination in these nails, it’s quite striking I think!

Coral Aztec(ish)

30 Apr

I know, I’m a terrible blogger, I could make tonnes of excuses but really life just gets in the way sometimes and leaves me feeling with barely enough energy to go about daily life let alone paint my nails!! I’m not promising that I’m back on track now, I mean I haven’t painted my nails for over a week….it’s alarming!  I’m sure I’ll be back to my usual self in time though!

Here’s a quick mani I did to try and practice my free-hand brush skills.  I’ve not been very inspired and had very little time for nail art recently so these were the best I could manage creativity wise!  I painted a coral base and then added gold triangles using tape to mark them off.  I then free-handed the black lines around the edges of the triangle mostly for a bit of practice!

Distressed Nails

21 Feb

There’s a few techniques I’ve been wanting to try out for a while, and this distressed technique from Chalkboard Nails is one of them.  I finally got round to trying it! It’s really simple and a very forgiving technique!!  I left the gold polish until last as I figured it was the lightest but it totally swamped the rest of the design, but it was so easily recoverable by just going back over with a couple of the other colours.

What do you think?  I’m looking forward to playing around with this technique and different colours!

January N.A.I.L. – Inspired by Pinterest

17 Jan

Wahay! Today I am am completing my first ever N.A.I.L. challenge!!  One of my resolutions this year is to post more regularly and getting involved in these challenges is a good way of ensuring I do that as it’s a little prompt to help when you’re feeling less than inspired!!

I missed the first prompt of the January challenge which was ‘health & wellness’ as I was too busy getting stressed out over job interviews!  That’s all over now so N.A.I.L. now has my undivided attention!  So, this week’s theme is inspired by Pinterest, I am ALWAYS on Pinterest so I had no end of inspiration to help with this challenge!! I actually wanted to do something pretty simple as I was feeling quite tired when I was doing these (getting towards the end of a long week at work!) so I based my look on these lovelies!!  True to my word they were indeed very simple to do using just a small striping brush for the gold details and then finishing it all off with a matte topcoat (I seriously think there’s nothing better than matte black nails!).

Make sure you all check out the other entries in the challenge!!

Geometric Scarf Print

16 Jan

I’ve spent the best part of the last week with no polish on my nails whatsoever! Shocking, I know! My assessment centre for the trainee solicitor position was last week so I had to keep my nails professional. That’s all over now though and I’m back to the freedom of nail art once more!

It’s been super cold and rainy and windy here recently so I’ve spent a lot of time wearing my favourite scarf and decided to do some nails based on the pattern! I free handed everything except the middle finger which I did with striping tape. I’m pretty pleased with this, it’s definitely some of the neatest freehand work I’ve done!
