Zebra or Tiger?

13 Aug

So when I’d finish these nails I couldn’t figure out whether they were zebra print or tiger print, I mean aren’t they just the same!? Don’t the stripes on a zebra kinda look the same as those on a tiger? Zebra….tiger….who knows! Yeah, my brain is having a “weird place” day!

Anyway…..I don’t use this base coat anywhere near often enough! I love the Nails Inc Sprinkles polishes and this one is definitely my favourite with the bright blue and purple/pink/gold glitters. I was tempted just to leave my nails plain, but the blog…y’know! Something about them just screamed for gold stamps over the top, so there you go!

OMD2 – Roses

25 Jul

I knew when I started this challenge that I’d never be able to manage a post for every single category, I don’t think I realised how few I’d actually be able to do though!! Real life sucks! How dare it get in the way of me and my nails!  Hmph!

So, without further delay, here is my contribution for day 25 – roses.  I’ve not had ANY TIME at all to paint my nails this month so the best I could come up with for this day was a quick stamp using my konad plates.

How cute is Mr Seal?  I couldn’t resit posing with him as he matched the colour of my polish almost perfectly!!

Polishes used:

  • Nails Inc – Seymour Walk
  • Rimmel – Sea Green
  • Rimmel – Glitter Top Coat
  • Nails Inc – Matte Top Coat

Apple Stamps

7 Apr

I’ve fallen in love with one of the new polishes I’ve recently bought – Sew Psyched by Essie.  It’s such a gorgeous colour, perfect for Spring.  I wanted to do something really simple with it so just went for a quick stamped look using a gold and a couple of my Konad plate.  I really like the apples, so cute!

Polishes used:

  • Essie – Sew Psyched
  • Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place

Fishnet Flowers

10 Mar

Another experiment in stamping!! This time I just used one stamp, learning from my previous lesson and randomly stamped it part-way across each nail.  I then dotted a flower over the edge of the stamp and pulled it into the middle with a toothpick for a bit more definition.  I quite liked the design of these ones but not the colour!  I think the yellow is a bit too insipid for my skin tone!

Polishes used:

  • Revlon – Buttercup
  • China Glaze – Custom Kicks
  • Barry M – Plum
  • Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place

Mixed Stamps

7 Mar

I’ve always wanted to have a go at mixing up a number of different stamps into one mani so I finally gave it a go.  I’ve had this idea floating round in my head for a while but the execution was definitely less than perfect.  I really didn’t like these at all when I did them and in hindsight should probably have put the yellow colour in the middle as it was difficult to see the distinction between the teal and purple!!  Surprisingly though, these have come out a bit better in picture than in real life!!

Polishes used:

  • Barry M – Plum
  • China Glaze – Custom Kicks
  • Revlon – Buttercup
  • Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place
  • Konad plates M57, M63 and M65

Twinny Wedding Nails!

6 Feb

My twin brother (who I see as my little brother as I’m the all important 3 minutes older!) is getting married whilst we’re over here in Africa and obviously I had to paint my nails fitting to the occasion!!  My dress is quite simple, a pale coral colour with cut out lace work on the top portion so I’ve just kept my nails subtle and understated to go with this.

I used a nude basecoat and then stamped over with a white polish using one of my Konad plates in a similar(ish) pattern to the lacework.

Right…time to go celebrate gaining a new member of the family!!

Pink Leopards (January N.A.I.L – Opposites)

24 Jan

So, I almost never wear pink polish or animal prints, it’s just not my style but that’s the whole point of this January N.A.I.L.!

There’s nothing fancy about these, just a bright pink base coat and some gold leopard print stamped on top, and you know what!? I love them! The gold somehow makes the pink a bit more muted than it normally is and as the leopard is gold it doesn’t show up too much so it’s fairly subtle!

Thanks N.A.I.L challenge….you’ve opened my eyes to pink leopard print!
