Spiralling

20 Sep

Hello! I’m back! My nail polishes still don’t have a home but I couldn’t wait any longer to get them out and start blogging again!

As it’s been about a month since I last did anything more complicated than put a single colour on my nails I decided to ease myself back into the world of nail art with a bit of stamping!

The good thing about having moved is that you get a fresh start and that means I’m making an effort to use some of the polishes that don’t usually make much of an appearance on here but definitely should! It’s like falling in love with my hobby all over again!

I’m looking forward to catching up on all of your blogs over the next few days!

Polishes used:

  • MoYou – Black
  • Barry M – Emerald Green
  • Sinful Colours – Call You Later
  • China Glaze – Smoke and Ashes
  • MoYou Sailor Collection 05

OMD2 – 3D

12 Jul

I have never attempted 3D nails before, the most 3D I get is sticking on a rhinestone or metal stud.  I bought these roses a while back on a bit of a whim and have never used them so today is the perfect opportunity!!  For some reason whenever I fancy doing a rose themed manicure my brain always thinks of stripes as the background and today is no exception!! Instead of the usual pinks and pastels that tend to go with roses I went full out Goth with a black and grey stripe 🙂

Stonecold Chevrons

4 Jun

These were my birthday nails from a few weeks ago, not very glamorous or complicated, but I spent far too long in the bath before getting ready to go out so ran out of time for anything extravagant!

Polishes used:

  • China Glaze – Stone Cold
  • MoYou – Black
  • Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place

Fishnet Flowers

10 Mar

Another experiment in stamping!! This time I just used one stamp, learning from my previous lesson and randomly stamped it part-way across each nail.  I then dotted a flower over the edge of the stamp and pulled it into the middle with a toothpick for a bit more definition.  I quite liked the design of these ones but not the colour!  I think the yellow is a bit too insipid for my skin tone!

Polishes used:

  • Revlon – Buttercup
  • China Glaze – Custom Kicks
  • Barry M – Plum
  • Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place

Mixed Stamps

7 Mar

I’ve always wanted to have a go at mixing up a number of different stamps into one mani so I finally gave it a go.  I’ve had this idea floating round in my head for a while but the execution was definitely less than perfect.  I really didn’t like these at all when I did them and in hindsight should probably have put the yellow colour in the middle as it was difficult to see the distinction between the teal and purple!!  Surprisingly though, these have come out a bit better in picture than in real life!!

Polishes used:

  • Barry M – Plum
  • China Glaze – Custom Kicks
  • Revlon – Buttercup
  • Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place
  • Konad plates M57, M63 and M65

Grey Waterfalls

24 Feb

Next up in the list of techniques I’ve been wanting to try for a while are these waterfall nails. I’ve seen hundreds of variants of this look since the Nailasaurus first posted Waterfall Nail Tutorial. It took me a while to decide on the colour scheme, and the photos haven’t turned out as well as I’d have liked -the silver just seemed to disappear with use of the flash! Nevertheless I quite like these ones and it’s another technique that I’ll be adding to the list of those to experiment with more!

Dotty for Squares

5 Oct

Well, these nails certainly aren’t for the shy…they’re a little bit in your face to say the least but I had so much fun doing them! I started by taping off squares and then filling in every other square with Stone Cold. After that had dried I basically just went a bit nuts with a few different sized dotting tools and a million* other colours.

It’d be easier to list the polishes I didn’t use in this post! But here goes:

Barry M – Lychee
Barry M – Yellow
Barry M – Mango Gelly
Barry M – Spring Green
Barry M – Cobalt Blue
W7 – Golden Pearl
W7 – White
W7 – Metallic Mars
China Glaze – Custom Kicks
China Glaze – Stone Cold
Bourjois – Bleu Violet

*may be a slight exaggeration!
