Spiralling

20 Sep

Hello! I’m back! My nail polishes still don’t have a home but I couldn’t wait any longer to get them out and start blogging again!

As it’s been about a month since I last did anything more complicated than put a single colour on my nails I decided to ease myself back into the world of nail art with a bit of stamping!

The good thing about having moved is that you get a fresh start and that means I’m making an effort to use some of the polishes that don’t usually make much of an appearance on here but definitely should! It’s like falling in love with my hobby all over again!

I’m looking forward to catching up on all of your blogs over the next few days!

  • Barry M – Emerald Green
  • Sinful Colours – Call You Later

Striping Tape Frenzy

6 Aug

I felt like I hadn’t done a proper striping tape mani for ages and hence these nails were born!  It literally took AGES to place the tape for these, and ages to take it off…so long that the polish got a little tacky and started pulling a bit with the tape removal so they’re not as neat as I would have liked.  I also gave up by the time I got to my pinkie and just whipped out the dotting tool!!

OMD2 – Ikat

13 Jul

So many options to choose from for this day! I opted for one of the yellow/grey colour combo inspired by these bowls which I now MUST HAVE in my life!!  Grey and yellow is a colour combination that I haven’t really used much but I really like it and this pattern is surprisingly easy to do!  For a first attempt I don’t think these are too bad…they’re not the most symmetrical but I’ll cope! I’ll definitely be experimenting with other Ikat patterns/colour combos in the future!

OMD2 – Rainbow

11 Jul

I LOVE bright colours!  This day of the challenge gave me a chance to recreate my rainbow gradient from earlier on in the year….I decided to add a waterfall design over the top too, because more colours is good! Bright nails just make me smile 😀

OMD2 – Mint Nails

1 Jul

I started blogging just before the OMD challenge last year and it was a great way for me to find out lots of excellent blogs to visit as well as getting huge amounts of inspiration.

The ladies behind OMD are back again with OMD Part Deux and I’ve decided to give it a crack!! I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to take part on every day of the challenge but I’ll  be doing my best to submit entries for as many as possible!

With that said, here are my Mint nails for Day 1.  I’d had this look in my brain for a little while and mint just seemed like the perfect background to try out these little daisies!

The only problem with joining in with challenges like these is that you have to take your nails off before you’ve properly had time to enjoy them! *sad face*

Looking forward to seeing all the other entries and I’m sure I’ll be discovering even more new blogs throughout the month as a result!

Green Tartan

18 Jun

I’ve been seeing quite a few tartan/plaid designs around the interwebs recently and it inspired me to recreate my own….in green, my favourite colour!  They’re not perfect but I still quite like them.  Last time I did plaid nails I used tape and it took FOREVER (but it was neat!).  This time I decided to risk going freehand and used various striping brushes….my hand is definitely a little shaky so the lines aren’t too neat, but overall not too bad for a first attempt!!  Practice makes perfect so I’ll definitely have to have a go at these again in the future!

Gold & Black Waterfalls

7 May

Man I love these nails!!  These are more of an attempt to get better at detail work with brushes and I have to say I’m super happy with the results.  I started with a nudeish base and then used a thin striping brush to paint on the gold and black ‘waterfall’ stripes.  For my accent nail I taped off a triangle which I painted black and when that had dried used a small detail brush to outline the rest of my nail in black as well.

This barely took my anytime at all and I always thing the ‘waterfall’ look is really striking when you use the right colours, it definitely looks like it takes more time than it does!
