Striping Tape Frenzy

6 Aug

I felt like I hadn’t done a proper striping tape mani for ages and hence these nails were born!  It literally took AGES to place the tape for these, and ages to take it off…so long that the polish got a little tacky and started pulling a bit with the tape removal so they’re not as neat as I would have liked.  I also gave up by the time I got to my pinkie and just whipped out the dotting tool!!

These nails are for my lovely friend Bex who bought me the gorgeous polishes featured in this post as part of a nail survival kit she gave me for my birthday!

I’ve never used any of the Seventeen polishes before but I’ll definitely be using them again now, thanks Bex!!  I absolutely adore the green colour, it’s easily going to be one of my favourites!

Stonecold Chevrons

4 Jun

These were my birthday nails from a few weeks ago, not very glamorous or complicated, but I spent far too long in the bath before getting ready to go out so ran out of time for anything extravagant!

Polishes used:

  • China Glaze – Stone Cold
  • MoYou – Black
  • Nails Inc – Lanesborough Place

Gold & Black Waterfalls

7 May

Man I love these nails!!  These are more of an attempt to get better at detail work with brushes and I have to say I’m super happy with the results.  I started with a nudeish base and then used a thin striping brush to paint on the gold and black ‘waterfall’ stripes.  For my accent nail I taped off a triangle which I painted black and when that had dried used a small detail brush to outline the rest of my nail in black as well.

This barely took my anytime at all and I always thing the ‘waterfall’ look is really striking when you use the right colours, it definitely looks like it takes more time than it does!

Coral Aztec(ish)

30 Apr

I know, I’m a terrible blogger, I could make tonnes of excuses but really life just gets in the way sometimes and leaves me feeling with barely enough energy to go about daily life let alone paint my nails!! I’m not promising that I’m back on track now, I mean I haven’t painted my nails for over a week….it’s alarming!  I’m sure I’ll be back to my usual self in time though!

Here’s a quick mani I did to try and practice my free-hand brush skills.  I’ve not been very inspired and had very little time for nail art recently so these were the best I could manage creativity wise!  I painted a coral base and then added gold triangles using tape to mark them off.  I then free-handed the black lines around the edges of the triangle mostly for a bit of practice!

Scifi Nails

14 Mar

I love SciFi a lot!  I read it, I watch it and now I paint it on my nails! I really didn’t know what to call this look to be honest, but I think it looks futuristic and reminds me of some of my favourite shows Stargate SG1 and Farscape. All I know is I love them! I’ve had them on for a week which is practically unheard of!  I will cry when I take them off (kidding….sorta!).

What do you think? Hope you love them as much as I do!

Polishes used:
Barry M – Nude
Barry M – Blackberry
Barry M – Gold Foil
