New Years Eve

31 Dec

Sorry for the radio silence folks, I’ll be back in full swing in the next week or two, Christmas and life have just gotten in the way of  blogging recently! I’ll be back with a round up of Christmas nails and my favourites of the year soon though! For now here’s what I’m wearing for NYE….I just wanted something simple so used my MoYou Back to the 80s plate for some celebratory nails.

Hope you all have a great New Year whatever you’re doing and I look forward to sharing more nails with you in 2014!

Far Over the Misty Mountains

16 Dec

Sooooooo excited today as I’m going to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug later today. I did some quick Hobbit nails inspired by my copy of the book for the occasion.

Considering these only took me about 15 minutes I’m pretty happy with them!

I’m so excited about seeing the movie, has anyone else seen it yet? What did you think!?

12 Days of Christmas – Presents

16 Dec

I started this day of the challenge thinking I was meant to be doing holly leaves and not presents so I picked my base colour with that in mind and then just had to wing it to change my design to a present theme. Given all that I don’t really like this design, the base colour is just totally wrong for presents!

Oh well….Holly leaves next which I’m looking forward to!

12 Days of Christmas – Reindeer

14 Dec

I know I’ve said it before, but I totally love this challenge! These reindeer are awesome (even if I do say so myself!), each day of the challenge just gets cuter! I did a reindeer design like this last Christmas and I remember it being terrible, I wish I could find the picture to see just how much I’ve improved since then!

I finished work for the year yesterday and I’m looking forward to spending some time relaxing and painting my nails!

These were pretty easy to do, I freehanded the reindeer shape in brown and once that had dried used a small nail art brush for the sparkly noses and a dotting tool for the eyes. I finished it all by outlining with a nail art pen in black and drawing on the antlers.

I am getting so excited for Christmas now, hope you are all enjoying the festive season!

12 Days of Christmas – Candy Canes

11 Dec

I bet this design looks familiar eh!?  Rocking the stripes from my Elves post in candy cane colours this time!!  I didn’t think I’d like this design when I first did it as red and white usually look a bit garish and bright and I thought it might look a little tacky, however I totally love it!!

12 Days of Christmas – Elves

10 Dec

More cute nails as part of this challenge!!  I didn’t want to do every nail with an elf design so did a green candy cane style design on a few of my fingers and an elf on the others (including my thumb which isn’t pictured as it smudged!) and I really love it – am totally gonna use this design again with a variety of colours (and minus the elf nails!)

Polishes used:

  • w7 – white
  • Barry M – emerald green

12 Days of Christmas – Santa Claus

4 Dec

I am really loving this Christmas challenge – it’s totally helping to get me into the Christmas spirit.  This day of the challenge was really fun to do, and super cute! I love the little Santa across the two nails – although I’m a bit annoyed that my top coat smudged the design despite leaving everything to dry for EVER!  If anybody has any tips to avoid this I’d love you for ever – I have a feeling that the only solution is changing my top coat!

Polishes used:

  • w7 – white
  • Barry M – lychee
