Stars!

27 Nov

So, my Christmas Jumper nails left me so traumatized that I just had to remove them straight away.  It was quite late at that point, and obviously I can’t bear the thought of naked nails so I just did a quick, simple design that I knew would make me happy again!!

I have hundreds and hundreds of these stars in so many different colours, this is the first time I’ve used them, they’re really cute and I will totally be fishing more out in the future!!

12 Days of Christmas – Christmas Jumper

27 Nov

Ugh, I am so unimpressed with these nails.  I mean, nothing about this design is good – my stamps are off centre, my diamonds aren’t diamond, my lines aren’t straight, my dots are smudged.  I mean, really, what was I playing at!?  I am totally going to do this day of the challenge again, but don’t think I’ll have time before the date range is up so posting these for now *sigh*.

I won’t say anymore about these, they’re terrible….but c’est la vie!

12 Days of Christmas – Snow Theme

23 Nov

I knew straight away what I wanted to do for this day of the challenge, and it absolutely had to involve a holo base colour!!  These nails are so pretty I just can’t stop staring at them and I’m going to be so sad when it comes to time to take them off 😥

Anyhow, they were so simple to do – I just stamped snowflakes in different colours and designs randomly (there was small bit of thought involved, but random for the most part!) over my base coat et voila!!

Triangular

22 Nov

For some reason I’ve been a bit obsessed about doing triangular nail art recently…odd, I know!!  This mani took ages to do, hundreds (slight exaggeration) of pieces of striping tape were sacrificed in the making of these nails!! I totally love the result though, and the Christmas colours!

12 Days of Christmas – Gingerbread

20 Nov

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Christmas!!  Okay, I know it’s only November but it’s totally my favourite time of year, and I’m really excited about this nail challenge – I love Christmas and doing themed nails for the month makes it even more exciting!!

First up on the challenge is Gingerbread nails.  These definitely aren’t my best attempt at nail art ever, I almost considered not posting them and having another attempt, but what the heck!!  I still think they’re quite cute!!

I’ve never tried to do an outline mani before and I definitely need more practice at these, saying that the white polish I used is a bit old and gloopy so that definitely didn’t help either!!

Is anyone else taking part in the challenge, send me your links if you are as I’d love to see them!

Layers of Birds!

19 Nov

These nails were a bit of a rush job and not what I planned to do at the outset as time kind of got away from me, until I got to the point where when my base coat had dried I only had 15 minutes to do something so I switched plans and went for a bit of simple stamping!!

Again, some shoddy photography means that the pictures really don’t do the colours justice, the base coat on these is gorgeous in real life – I used a couple of coats of Peacock (one of my favourite polishes by far!) and then topped it with Mallard for my bird themed layers!  I then stamped over the top with a gold polish and Konad plate m63.  I don’t think I’ve even used this pattern before but I really like it, it’s kind of aztecy which is always a winner in my book!!

What do you think, not too bad for a 15 minute rush job?

I’ll be starting this Christmas nail challenge tomorrow.  Hope some of you join in as well!!

I’m Back!

18 Nov

Ugh, it’s been FOREVER since I last posted….sorry folks!! I had a really important interview last week so all my time has been put into preparing for that leaving little/no time for fun nail art!! Boring!! Anyway, it went well (I think) and I will find out if I made it through to the next stage (a two day assessment centre – more stress!) in the next week or two, until then I can spend as much time painting my nails as I like (well…apart from that whole having to go to work thing!).

So, as soon as I got back from my interview I wanted to tackle something really difficult and thought I’d try and master the water marble once more….of course, I was so exhausted from the stress of it all that I really should have just left it.  Here’s the finished result anyway:

I really need to nail (ha – see what I did there!?) the whole water marble thing, for some reason I just can’t seem to get the same/similar pattern on each nail – ho hum.  It’s still fun to do!!  Also, I seriously lack at photography skills at the moment, I can’t seem to get a decent picture no matter what lighting I use!   These pictures make the gold really stand out but mask how much the other two colours showed through – ah well!

I’m going to start following a Christmas nail challenge in a few days time – my friend Laura (my bad influence when it comes to all things nail related!) linked me to this nail challenge on Reddit and I thought it sounded fun so I’ll be sharing my posts there and here for this challenge!  Anybody else fancy joining in?
