Burnished Metal

29 Oct

I wasn’t going to post these ones as they’re not really anything special, but then I decided that I love them, they’re my pretties and they will go to the ball, um, I mean blog!

These were done using the clingfilm method, which is so simple and easy and produces really fancy looking results!  I especially love doing this method with metallic polishes to achieve a kind of burnished metal look like these ones.

Excuse the tip-wear on the photo, like I said I wasn’t planning to post these so didn’t take a photo until I’d been wearing them for a couple of days!

Spideys

26 Oct

How cute are these guys!? Totally my favourite Halloween mani so far!  The background is done with cling film using an orange base and then khaki over the top and I free handed the spiders with a couple of small nail art brushes.

For once I totally resisted the urge to go nuts and over complicate the design (I wanted to do spider webs and spider trails as well as the spiders…..) and I’m so glad I did!

Bloody Eyes!

25 Oct

It’s almost Halloween so have some drippy blood style nails with a few eyes thrown in for good measure!

Not my finest work….I meant to start the drips from my cuticles but got distracted by the telly (Gossip Girl!) and ended up doing them as French tips instead! Oops.

Peas in a Pod

23 Oct

These ones have a bit of an Autumny feel about them, I love the goldy-green colour of the gradient (yes, there’s a gradient honest!).  I didn’t really know where I was going when I started painting over the top of them, and the finished result looks like peas in a pod which I quite like actually!!

Double Dots

21 Oct

I was feeling a bit miserable yesterday and so to cheer myself up I recreated one of my favourite mani’s ever!! I love this look, it’s so simple and easy to do and always looks really cool when it’s finished (IMO!).

I felt much happier after doing this, and even though I’m still feeling a little glum today I can just look at my nails and feel a little happier!!

What was I thinking!?

18 Oct

I seriously have no idea what I was thinking when I did these, it’s another classic example of something looking good in your head and then rushing it and it looking terrible by the time it’s finished!! Oh well….that’s what nail polish remover is for I suppose and these will be coming off ASAP!!

I wanted to do a kind of ruffian mani with newspaper print, but really didn’t have the patience to properly paint neat lines and the result, in my opinion, is just terrible!!

On a positive note I love the black nails with the gold glitter!!

Pumpkins!

17 Oct

More Halloween themed nails today!! These were done in a bit of a rush so don’t look as polished as I’d like but I still think they’re cute!! In short I free handed pumpkin shapes onto the tips of my nails with an orange polish and then filled in the pumpkin detail with a thin nail art brush and a darker orange and green for the stem.  There’s not much else to say about them really!

Although I like these nails on other people (I’ve seen hundreds like this on Pinterest) I don’t really like them for myself, they just look a bit too cutsey/cartoonish which isn’t me at all!!
